Sacred
Ashes: A Womans Transformational Journey
What Sharon Lund has to say about
her upcoming book Sacred Ashes:
The title of a book is so important. I have chosen Sacred
Ashes as the title because it describes my life story. I
have taken all of my challenges (nine years of being raped
as a child, suicide attempts, destructive relationships,
anorexia and living positive with HIV/AIDS since 1983),
faced them, literally released them by burning them to ashes,
in ceremonies and rituals, which has allowed me to heal
and become the woman I am today. In other words, my ashes
(past challenges) have become sacred. I have been blessed
by these challenges because they have healed me and brought
me to self-discovery, wholeness, and living my life purpose.
An
Excerpt in Sacred Ashes from the chapter - Given the Choice...to
Live or Die?
"A handful of pills, one more shot, one more IV, a familiar face exploring my body. My sheets, gown, pillow and entire body drenched with sweat. Fevers over 103 degrees. Then chills, as cold as ice. I lie in bed when suddenly I start to shake. I close my fists tightly, thinking its an earthquake. But its not an earthquake it is me - shivering. When will it end? The tubes, the suffering, the emotions and confusion. Is death knocking at my door?"
